Ocean Innovation Fund

Sea-Changers

Many of the UK’s most urgent marine challenges, such as biodiversity loss, pollution, and climate impacts, require new, locally rooted solutions. Yet early-stage, community-driven innovation is often underfunded, especially compared to large-scale or high-tech efforts.

Sea-Changers aims to fill this gap through its Innovation Fund, which supports pioneering marine conservation ideas with the potential to be replicated nationally or globally. The fund enables local groups, researchers, and nonprofits to pilot untested solutions, whether developing prototypes, trialling new approaches, or adapting global ideas to the UK context. Grants will be awarded across diverse themes — research, education, habitat restoration, and species protection, with the goal of scalable, community-led solutions for healthier seas.
