Campaign for Pesticide Residues Reduction in EU Retail Food
Pesticide Action Network Europe
Exposure to toxic pesticides harms human health, contributes to biodiversity loss, and contaminates our food systems. Despite ambitious goals in the EU Green Deal, such as halving pesticide use by 2030, political progress remains slow.
This project will work across six EU countries to pressure major supermarket chains to reduce toxic pesticide use in their supply chains. By testing food for pesticide residues, raising public awareness, and publishing supermarket rankings, the project will encourage healthy competition among retailers. Collaborating with supermarkets and experts, PAN Europe will help develop farmer guidelines to eliminate hazardous pesticides leading to safer food, healthier farming systems, and a cleaner environment.
