Ocean Plastic Policy Hub

University of Portsmouth

The University of Portsmouth’s goal is to augment and improve national policies to reduce ocean plastic pollution, while building public accountability on ocean plastic pollution action. They will conduct a major policy analysis of approximately 100 national-level, globally-distributed ocean plastics policies, to scrutinise and make transparent their effectiveness at reducing ocean plastic pollution.

At present, policymakers seeking to tackle ocean plastic pollution are operating in a policy effectiveness/independent-evidence vacuum. Portsmouth University’s online ocean plastic policy hub will provide the necessary capacity to both assess current ocean plastic policy effectiveness and to inform future policy.
