Education for Antarctic Conservation

Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)

School pupils cannot visit Antarctica. The Royal Geographic Society’s ambitious educational programme brings Antarctica into their reach through the use of social media and digital resources, online data sources and scientific research.

The project builds on the experience of the Weddell Sea Expedition education programme and utilises materials and resources collected during the expedition and the personnel on board, to educate the students about the Antarctic and its marine environment. Young people, from primary school age to 6th formers are encouraged to explore how their actions and the actions of others can support the protection and conservation of these unique ecosystems.
